These maps are from The area where Roque Leonardi (Rocco Lunardi) was born and baptized. He was born in the town Gragnanella and baptized there in the Catholic Church of San Bartolomeo.

His mother was initially from Castelnuovo in Garfagnana and some of his ancestors came from Fosciandora like his paternal grandmother --see maps 1, 5 and 6 below. The Paternal family may have come from Ceserana (maps 1,5,7) and Sillico (maps 4&7) in the 1600's and 1500's respectively. This is currently under study.

1 Map 1733:

The fullsize version of this thumbnail is a high resolution 300 ppi image. It clearly shows in 1733 (just before Roque Leonardi's time) that Gragnanella was in the region of Modena as stated on the top of this map. Today Gragnanella is in the Region of Tuscany. Map also shows Castelnuovo, Foscianadora, and Ceserana.

2 Map: Current Tuscany Region, Italy, 2002.

3 Map: Close up of Tuscany region with darkened area indicating the province of Garfagnana, 2002.

4 Map: Current Garfagnana Province, Italy featuring Castelnuovo, Foscianadora, Sillico, etc

5 Map: Featuring Gragnanella, Castelnuovo, Foscianadora, Ceserana, etc

6 Map: Contemporary showing the relationship between Gragnanella, Roque's plaec of birth (indicated by red star), and Livorno his point of departure. It's likely Roque was actually Living in Castelnuove when He left for Livorno because his parents had moved the family there several years earlier.
7 Map: Contemporary showing Gragnanella on the edge of the Alpine Forest also showing Castelnuovo Di Garfagnana, Ceserana, Sillico, etc.
