In Civil War records Celestino’s name appears as Celestial J. Leonardy. He enlisted as a Confederate solider 24 May 1861 In the Third Florida Infantry, Company B, “Saint Augustine Blues.” He was severely wounded at Perryville 8 Oct 1862 and captured. He was exchanged at Vicksburg, MS on 15 December 1862 (estimated). Discharged Company B, 3rd Infantry Regiment Florida on 15 January 1863 in Tullahoma, TN.
